The contest will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026
2026 ISFA Student Competition March 13, 2026, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The entry fee is $25.00. Registration must be received by March 1, 2026. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE PERMITTED.
Contest Description: The ISFA Student Design Competition invites student designers to showcase their creativity, technical skill, and artistic vision. Students may create their design in advance and deliver it during official drop-off hours from 9:00am–5:00pm on Friday. All work must be completed solely by the student without outside assistance.
Theme: “Everyday Objects, Extraordinary Art”: Create a floral design inspired by an ordinary object—something simple, common, or overlooked—reimagined into something artful and unexpected.

Designer of the Year:
First Place Overall Winner receives a plaque and a certificate
First Runner-Up Overall receives a certificate and second place ribbon.
Second Runner-Up Overall receives a certificate and a third place ribbon.
Rules:
1 The ISFA Student Design Competition invites student designers to showcase their creativity, technical skill, and artistic vision. Students may create their design in advance and deliver it during official drop-off hours from 9:00am–5:00pm on Friday. All work must be completed solely by the student without outside assistance..
2 ENTRY: Contest is open to any current/active floral student within the floral industry. Employees or family members of the Student Competition Chairperson are ineligible to compete. Individuals are not eligible to compete within 1 year of winning the Student Competition.
3 Contestants must preregister for the competition by March 1, 2026.
4 Designs may not exceed 24" x 24" x 24" in any direction. Entries will be evaluated using a 100-point scoring system with ten categories, each worth a maximum of 10 points:
- Interpretation
- Creativity
- Scale (Proportion)
- Unity (Harmony & Texture)
- Balance (Physical & Visual)
- Focal Emphasis
- Line (Movement & Rhythm)
- Depth
- Color Balance (Harmony & Rhythm)
- Mechanics
Point Scale:
0–2 Poor | 3–5 Fair | 6–8 Good | 9–10 Excellent
If a tie-breaker is required, points awarded in the Unity category will be removed to determine final placement.
5 Winners will be announced during the Banquet & Awards Dinner on Saturday evening.
6 Display: All designs will remain on display throughout the weekend for public viewing. Designs may not be removed before Sunday morning unless special approval is granted by the Competition Chairperson.
7 Liability: ISFA and the host venue are not responsible for loss, damage, or theft of any entry.
8 Refund Policy: No refunds will be issued for participants who do not show up or do not submit an entry.
